The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program (EFSP) announced that federal funding is available to not-for-profit organizations in Peoria County that administer emergency food and shelter programs. The amount of funding available is $143,262.
Federal funding must be used to supplement and expand efforts to provide emergency food, shelter and support services in Peoria County. Governmental or private voluntary organizations chosen to receive funds must:
Be not-for-profit, Have an accounting system, Conduct an annual audit, Practice nondiscrimination, Demonstrate the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs successfully. Private voluntary organizations must have a volunteer board of directors.
Funding will be awarded & distributed by a local board comprising representatives of several organizations.
Interested not-for-profits can get an application by contacting Harley Jones, local EFSP board chairman, at 677-7272, Ext. 204. Applications can be picked up at the Red Cross Central Illinois Chapter, 311 W. John H. Gwynn Jr. Ave., Peoria; or electronically at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 10.
