WOMEN’S 4-PLAYER SCRAMBLE AT KELLOGG GOLF COURSE

Sign up now for the Peoria Park District’s Women’s 4-Player Scramble at Kellogg Golf Course on Saturday, September 4. This tournament is open to amateur women ages 12+. Cost is $60/team, including green fees. Tee times begin at 8 a.m. Entry deadline is Sunday, August 29. Entry forms are available at all Peoria Park District golf courses and on-line at www.peoriaparks.org/golf.

ATTEND THE MATURE READERS BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP SEPTEMBER 9TH

Relax with a couple good books, then join a discussion with the Mature Readers Book Discussion Group at Lakeview Branch Library, Peoria. This is for ages 50+. Tuesday, 9/9 – The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein at 2:00 p.m. Moderator: Barbara Peters. Call (309) 691-8411.

FALL HARVEST CLASS SEPTEMBER 11 @ LUTHY BOTANICAL GARDEN

The Peoria Park District’s Luthy Botanical Garden will hold a Fall Harvest class on Saturday, September 11 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the camp building in W.H. Sommer Park. Join us for this general introduction to preserving your harvested fruits and veggies. Instructor Valerie Wolfe will cover canning, freezing, dehydrating and more. Recipes and taste-testing are included!  This class is open to ages 16 and over. The fee is $10 for residents and $12 for non-residents. PEORIA PARK DISTRICT AUDITIONS – “Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.”

Community Children’s Theatre of the Peoria Park District will hold auditions for “Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.” directed by Bryan Blanks, on Friday, September 10 at 4:30 pm or Saturday, September 11 at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 3601 N. North, Peoria, IL.  Youth aged 8-18 should prepare a song to sing, not from this show, and wear comfortable clothing for movement. Performance dates are November 11-14. There is no fee to audition. ADULT DODGEBALL

The famous playground game is reborn as an exciting new sport of teamwork, strategy and skill. Co-Rec teams of 6-10 players (with at least 2 female players) will put it all on the line trying to outlast opponents in a safe, friendly, yet fierce competition. Remember, no head shots allowed! Games are played on Sundays, September 26-November 21 at Franciscan Recreation Center. Registration forms are available at Glen Oak Pavilion or online at www.peoriaparks.org.
