Free Medicare Help Desk in September – Proctor Hospital, in association with BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois’ Services in the Neighborhood program, offers a free Medicare Help Desk the fourth Wednesday of every month, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., in the Lobby at Proctor Hospital. September’s date will be on be Wednesday, September 22. No appointment is needed. For more info or to register please call (309) 691-1070.

Free PAD Screenings to First 100 Appointments – during National Screening Month for Vascular Disease in September. The free screening represents a $40.00 value.

Screening dates, times and locations are as follows:

Proctor First Care, Peoria (Knoxville Square) 9118 N. Lindbergh Dr., Peoria September 8 and 9 from 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.

Proctor First Care, East Peoria at 2535 E. Washington St. September 16 and 17 from 8:30 a.m. –12:30 p.m.

Proctor First Care, Morton at 621 W Jackson September 22 and 24 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Proctor Medical Group Family Practice, Bartonville at 506 W Garfield Ave September 28 and 29 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Individuals must remover shoes and socks to expose bare ankle for this screening.

Announcing Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery Recovery Walks! 2010

The Proctor Health Care Foundation and the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery at Proctor Hospital are pleased to announce Recovery Walks! 2010. The Walk, to benefit the Ameel Rashid Scholarship for Addiction Recovery, will be held on Saturday, September 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the campus of Proctor Hospital. The Walk steps-off at 12:00 p.m. Registration for the Walk is just $15.00 per person and $10.00 for children 12 and under. Families may register for $40. Registration information is available at www.addictionrecov.org. For those who consider themselves in recovery, there is an Honor Guard and respective years in recovery will be celebrated by shirt colors: 0-9 years, 10-19, 20-29 years, and 30 or more years.

September Seniors on the Go – It’s Free – Health education sessions and lunch. The Hult Health Education Center and Proctor Hospital will present Seniors on the Go on Thursday, September 16 at the Hult Health Education Center.

The educational program is free to seniors. Topics will include “A Mind of its Own: the Heart’s Role in Mental Health,” from 10:30-11:45 a.m. and “Urological problems: Increased Incidence in Seniors,” from 12:30-1:15 p.m.

Lunch is provided from 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
