Peoria Public Library Offers Young Adults Financial Education

The FINRA Investor Education Foundation is sponsoring a series of three programs, Financial ABCs for Generations X, Y, and Z, targeting young adults ages 13 to 20 and the Smart investing @your library® van, which is available for all ages, at the Peoria Public Library Lakeview Branch on three Saturdays, October 9, 16, and 23, at 1:00 p.m.

At the program, young adults will be exposed to a number of topics which include opening a checking account, getting that first credit card, a savings strategy for their first job, saving for college, money management while in college, what investing is, how to create and monitor stock portfolios, Internet resources for investing information, and personal financial statements.

In addition, visitors to the library are able to experience the Smart investing at your library van which contains information about savings, investing, and money management, and all visitors to the van are registered to win a free flash drive.
