God’s Political Candidate

With the November elections a few weeks away come thoughts of where all this is going. I mean, you’d have to be blind not to see that our beloved democracy is being unraveled right before our eyes.

As the integrity, morals and patriotism of “The Greatest Generation” fades away from the scene, our generation must face the reality that unless we unify under the principles of our Founding Fathers, America the beautiful will soon be America the occupied.

But beyond our shores, there is a much larger reality. No global solution, outside of God’s plan, will work to bring true, sustained peace on earth. Seriously, how many centuries will it take mankind to figure that out?

As I write this, journalists all over the world are reporting on the outrageous statements made this week on our soil at the U.N. by Iran’s President saying that we, the U.S.A., are to blame for the 9/11 attacks. This rubbish, along with toxic spewing from other dictators, our infighting over our border issue with Mexico, the oil spill in the Gulf and global natural disasters have all clumped into one huge cry for help. Are we so ignorant as to think the solution can come from a fellow human?

I am convinced that no matter how long we exist on this planet, we will never evolve into perfection. No, all one has to do is read the news to see that barbarianism never went away. It still lurks in the hearts of those who we work with every day, those who we worship with on Sunday and those we sleep beside every night. I am convinced that there is no DNA in anyone on this earth that will produce a human being that can totally resolve the human condition.

God’s political candidate is not a man or a woman. God’s candidate for global government is His one and only Son, Jesus Christ.

In one of God’s ‘ad campaigns,’ if I may be so bold as to call it that, He states, “…and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called, Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

He’s got my vote!

Now, granted, for years we have heard that verse in our Christmas services, Christmas plays and publications. And, many who are religious rarely mix their beliefs with politics, so what ‘government’ is God referring to in that statement? You’ll have to turn to the back of your Bible for the answer, it’s all spelled out in the book of Revelation how our current world, in an effort to fix itself, will royally mess it up and how God’s Incumbent will assume global governance.

“Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.” Revelation 19:15

Does that sound like a brutal dictator? In human terms, yes, but the difference between the rule and reign of Jesus and that of Hitler, Stalin or Mussolini is motive. You see, while Jesus is perfect, while He is the epitome of love, He is also holy; so sin will not be tolerated in his kingdom. Won’t it be great when crimes are punished with swift and perfect justice? It will be a thousand years of peace. Even the animals will get along!

“In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all.” Isaiah 11:6

How do you vote YES for God’s political Candidate? With your heart: believe now, the “polling booths” will soon be closed.

(Author’s note: there is no real campaign, Jesus will reign forever regardless of the outcome of the “polls.”)
