Farmers Share of the Food Dollar Breakfast on March 12

This year will mark the 11th annual Farmers Share of the Food Dollar Breakfast sponsored by the Peoria County Farm Bureau. The breakfast is an effort to help educate the public on the safe and affordable crops that American farmers produce. It will be held in the Youth Building at Exposition Gardens in Peoria on Saturday, March 12th.

Breakfast will be served by Farm Bureau members from 7:00 – 11:00 a.m. The price this year is 75 cents and is calculated based on the farm value of the menu items. The menu includes two pancakes, syrup, two 2-ounce whole hog sausage patties, two scrambled eggs, an 8-ounce glass of Prairie Farms milk and an 8 ounce glass of Orange Juice.

Along with a delicious, fresh cooked breakfast there will be several displays inside the Youth Building. Over 200 full-color photos of rural scenes submitted by members for this year’s Farm Bureau photo contest will be displayed. There will be tractors brought by Peoria County farm dealerships. A “real” dairy cow and/or calf will be brought by a local farmer. There will be FREE ABC’s of Agriculture coloring books and Ag Mags for children. A silent auction will raise funds for the Peoria County Farm Bureau Foundation-sponsored agriculture scholarships and agriculture literacy programs. Candles, bar soap, and skin lotion made from soybeans along with glass and surface cleaner made from corn will be available for purchase.
