Peoria Zoo welcomes hog babies

The Peoria Zoo has welcomed a new litter of Red River Hogs who were born March 19 at 6:00 a.m. This is the fourth successful litter born at the Zoo. The Zoo staff were able to determine the time of birth by filming the mother. The camera is now monitoring the growth of the piglets and updated footage will be posted to the Peoria Zoo’s YouTube Channel at www.youtube.com/user/peoriazoo. The piglets and their mom can also be viewed in their dayroom in the Africa! exhibit.

The Red River Hogs are part of the Africa! exhibit at the Zoo. Two female hogs arrived on November 4, 2008 from the Bronx Zoo and were soon joined by Art, an adult male on November 17, 2008. The Peoria Zoo is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
