May is Osteoporosis Awareness Month  Screenings Just $10

Proctor Hospital is offering discounted Osteoporosis Heel Screenings during May in honor of Osteoporosis Awareness Month. Screenings are just $10.00.

This screening is performed to determine bone mineral content as a sign of bone loss in the spine. It is recommended for women age 40+; especially for postmenopausal women. Incidence of osteoporosis increases with age. It is performed on the bare ankle, therefore participants should dress accordingly. Results will be ready within five minutes.

Screenings will be held, on the following dates:

• Hult Health Education Center 5215 N. Knoxville, Peoria;  May 5, 10, 17, and 24 from 7:00-11:00 a.m. and 4:00-6:00 p.m.

• Friday, May 6, 8:00-11:00 a.m. – Proctor First Care at 9118 N. Lindbergh, Peoria

• Friday, May 13, 8:00-11:00 am, Proctor First Care East Peoria, 2535 E Washington; Call 689-8334 to schedule an appointment.

May Brown Bag Lunch & Learn Wellness Program for Older Adults Will Present “Downsizing Done Right”

On Thursday, May 19, Tracy Molendi, Owner of Simply Organized & Staged will present “Downsizing Done Right” part of the Center’s Lunch and Learn educational series for seniors. The program will run from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and will be held in the Classrooms at Proctor Hospital.

Participants are encouraged to bring the lunch and refreshment of their choice to the class.

About the program: Presenter Tracy Molendi answers the question – Do you need to transition to a smaller living space? Molendi will also share downsizing tips to help you move from a larger home into a condo or retirement community.  The Brown Bag series is presented as a community service by the Counseling Center at Proctor Hospital.

May Seniors on the Go – It’s Free

Acid Reflux and Aging and Nutrition & Multiple Medications

The Hult Health Education Center and Proctor Hospital will present Seniors on the Go on Thursday, May 19 at the Hult Health Education Center.

The educational program is free to seniors. Topics will include acid reflux with Maureen Lillich, MD, from 10:30-11:45 a.m. and nutrition and medications from 12:30-1:15 p.m. with Jeff Robins, RPh. Lunch is provided from 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Free Medicare Help Desk

Answering all your Medicare Questions

Proctor Hospital, in association with BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois’ Services in the Neighborhood program, offers a free Medicare Help Desk the fourth Wednesday of every month, from 9:00-11:00 a.m., in the Lobby at Proctor Hospital.

The next scheduled Medicare Help desk will be Wednesday, May 25. If you, or someone you know, have questions regarding Medicare, please stop by. No appointment is needed. For more information or to register please call (309) 691-1070.
