The Salvation Army Celebrates 125 Years of Service Annual Community Luncheon Tickets Available Now

“125 Years of Making a Difference” will be the theme at The Salvation Army’s Annual Community Luncheon to be held at the Holiday Inn City Centre on Wednesday, May 11.

Features of the luncheon will include annual awards to community volunteers who make a difference, along with a portrayal of Evangeline Booth and historical slideshow marking The Salvation Army’s 125 years in Peoria. Evangeline Booth, the daughter of William and Catherine Booth, dedicated the first stand-alone Army building in Peoria in 1922 while serving as the National Commander for The Salvation Army. Local actress Clare Zell will portray Ms. Booth at the luncheon. Also included will be music from the Richwoods High School Choir, and award presentations.

About 350 people are expected to attend the event, which recognizes community leaders and to celebrate the work and mission of The Salvation Army in the Peoria TriCounty area.

The Peoria TriCounty Salvation Army will honor several individuals and companies during the event.

The Spirit of the Army Award will be given to The Southside Office of Concern in Peoria.

The Pinnacle of Achievement Award is to be awarded to the Dianne Yarbrough for her charitable work and support of The Salvation Army, Esther House and Peoria Rescue Mission programs.

The “Others” Award will be presented to Linda Blossom, of Alliance Benefit Group. Linda, a past Tree of Lights Co-Chair for The Salvation Army, and current Advisory Board member, is being recognized for her philanthropic and volunteer efforts for The Salvation Army and throughout the community.

The Women’s Auxiliary will also give out its Award of Excellence at the luncheon on May 11 at the Holiday Inn City Centre. Tickets are now available.
