June 1 – Kick off for the annual summer “Brown Bag-It” weekly events on Mondays & Wednesdays 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. @ Peoria County Courthouse Place. Call 681-0696. Admission free.

June 1 – 4 – Annual Washington Cherry Festival – in Washington. Call 309-444-9921 for more info.

June 2 – 5 – Peoria Players presents “Beehive The 60s Musical” Tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for children 18 and under. This is about the coming of age of women’s music. Call 688-4473 for info.

June 3 – 4th Annual Christian Life Academy Golf Outing at Sunset Hills Golf Club in Pekin. Shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. and the meal is at 5:30 p.m. 4-person best ball format. $75 per person $300 per team. Contact Josh Horning at 309-449-3346 or jhorning@clacademy.org.

June 4 – 25 – Riverfront Market – weekly on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. – noon on Peoria’s Riverfront. Artists, craftspeople, fresh produce vendors, musicians and exhibitors from Illinois.

June 4 – Strawberry Festival – downtown Elmwood.

June 4 – Sam J. Stone B’nai B’rith Covenant Apartments Resident’s Assoc.’s annual RUMMAGE SALE from 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Coffee & doughnuts served until 10:30 a.m. Bakery items available. Lunch hours: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Items to be sold by residents & other vendors.

June 4 thru Aug 24 – “Sightseeing Cruises” on the Spirit of Peoria at 100 NE Water St. Boarding starts at 12:30 p.m./departs at 1:00 p.m. Admissions: $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $9 for children. Cruises are 1 hour and 30 minutes long.

June 4 – The final concert of Season 2 is at 7:30 p.m. at Five Points Washington.

June 5 – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Peoria will be holding its second ALIPRO Snag & Brag Fishing Tournament. Eight to ten teams consisting of four anglers each will begin fishing at 5:30 a.m. in various locations throughout Central Illinois. Public invited. Cost: $10 for adults/ children 10 and younger free. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club.

June 5 – Tipi (Teepee) Days – at Flanagan House Museum.  This fun hands-on educational day camp for kids is from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Price is $10 for 1st child in family/$5 for additional children in family. Parents are free with their children. Recommended ages: 7-10. Refreshments & craft materials included in price. Call 309-674-1921.

June 6 – The 8th annual Whitney’s Walk Spaghetti Supper will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Brimfield Grade School Cafeteria. The cost for an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner is $8 for adults/ $4 for children aged 3-10. Children under 2 eat for free. Carry-outs available. Call (309) 692-1766 ext. 216.

June 6 – Nationally recognized recycling expert Neil Seldman, the president of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance (www.ilsr.org), is visiting Peoria to give a talk entitled “Recycling and Economic Development – Turning Waste Into Resources” at 7:00 p.m. @ the Unitarian Universalist Church of Peoria, 3000 W Richwoods Blvd. The event is free and open to the general public.

June 9 – The Peoria Genealogical Society welcomes Carol Doward of Washington IL to the society’s general meeting for a “Walk Around the Square.” Carol will give a visual tour around the historic commercial square in Washington IL. The meeting is at 7:00 p.m. @ Lakeview Branch Library.

June 10 – 17 – “Spirit of Peoria Moonlight Cruise” recurs weekly on Fridays. Boat boards at 7:30 p.m./cruises from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. Call 637-8000. Admission: Adults: $15/person, Seniors: $13/person, Kids: $9/person (Ages 4-12), Infants FREE! Live entertainment! Cash bar. Two-hour cruise.

June 11 – A Garden Walk – to Benefit Look, It’s My Book! From noon – 4:00 p.m. at five different homes in Highpoint Subdivision. Tickets available on day of walk at each home. Cost is $10. Call 691—9266 for more info.

June 11 – River City Bags Tournament – at Kelleher’s Irish Pub

June 11 – Open Fishing Days @ Camp Wondanda – Enjoy the well-stocked waters of Lake Davis. Fish from shore or rent a canoe. Fee: $5 per family/$5 per canoe & $1 per fishing pole. Call 579-2157

June 11 – The Peoria chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union will dedicate a display case to its former president Jack (J.D.) Wheeler at 1:00 p.m. at downtown Peoria Public Library. Wheeler was Peoria ACLU chapter president from 1991 – 2000 & was an outspoken advocate for civil liberties & civil rights.

June 14 – July 19 – Kindermusik at Trinity Summer Camp 2011 – Children discover the joy of music!  One 5-week session of daytime & evening summer classes will run from June 14 – July 19 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Cost: $75 per 5-week session. Call 676-4609.

June 23 – The public is invited to a free Caregiver Education Night from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. at Senior World, 719 N. William Kumpf Blvd. Suite 300. David Priddy, Ph. D., Licensed Clinical Psychologist, will present on “Caregiving and Depression.” R.S.V.P. to 495-4530 by June 20. Refreshments provided

June 24 – Duryea Days at Tower Park in Peoria Heights – Lots of activities with entertainment. Admission free. Noon  – 10:00 p.m.

June 24 – 25 – Universal Rhythm Assembly – a two-day music festival with a twist – showcases special interest groups concerned with issues facing our ecosystem, national forestry, ecological education & global environment. Great food & spirits. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. @ Riverfront Park.

June 24 – 26 – Rhapsody in Bloom @ the Luthy Botanical Gardens

June 26 – Proctor Cycling Classic – downtown Peoria
