Project Next Generation – 5:00-7:00 p.m. floor Information Desk or print one out from It’s All About the Kids (5th – 8th grades) – technology, mentoring and their futures.
Participants of this program will work with project mentors and library staff who provide a mix of technological experiences and life skills vital for lifelong success. Students will learn how to use computers, the internet, digital cameras, iPad 2 and other technologies, while practicing problem-solving and communication skills. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library, a Department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). Meet Madison Gailus, Children’s Librarian time, Trillium plays an , from famous pranks to optical illusions to making sure you don’t get Peoria Public Library is delighted to introduce Madison Gailus, Children’s Librarian at Lakeview Branch! Madison is a graduate of Dominican University and holds a Masters Degree in Library and Information Science. She worked as Summer Reading Assistant for four years at the Prairie Trails Public Library in Burbank, Illinois and says she “fell in love” with working with kids and reading.
Madison can remember the first book she ever read on her own, Frog and Toad are Friends, but that her passion for reading ignited when she was in high school. She is interested in biking, hiking, painting, photography and traveling as well and tries to bring dancing and music to every storytime she does. “I don’t know everything there is about being a Children’s Librarian, but I do know how to find the answer to a question you may have!” said Madison.
