Mark Wrhel was chosen Grand Marshal for the 4th of July Parade and Flag Raising. This honor is given every year as a surprise to someone who has made West Peoria a much better place to live. Mark has supported many of our organizations and clubs whenever requested. He is the owner of Haddad’s and rebuilt a remarkable store for us all to shop after the tragic fire. The convenience of Haddad’s was greatly missed by most of us. He was able to support his employees during the rebuilding year because he had the foresight to have insurance that would allow his employees to be paid in case of disaster that forced closing. Mark embodies an outstanding community member. Other trophies were awarded to: Bartonville Lions Club for best service organization; Peoria Park District Youth Group for best youth organization; St Mark’s School for best patriotic representation and Farmington Road Entertainment District (FRED) for best in show.
Many thanks to all who worked and organized the event and to those who hosted parties that showcased our community and furthered the idea that the Living is indeed the Best to the West of Peoria.
