Flying fish fundraiser benefits Labor Temple

The 2nd annual Flying Fish Festival and Bowfishing Tournament has been scheduled for Saturday July 11 at Bass Pro Shops in East Peoria.

The event will include a bow-fishing tournament from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is $120/team of up to four with prizes totaling $7,500 for first through fifth place. There also is an optional big fish pot for $25. The tournament has a big 20 format.

The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bass Pro Shops parking lot. The event will include Asian Carp taste testing, activities for the kids, displays, animals and the weigh-in beginning at 2 p.m. At the conclusion of the weigh-in, prizes will be awarded to the winners. At 6 p.m. the Preservation and Conservation dinner will be held at the Itoo Hall. Tickets for the dinner are $100/person or sponsorships are available.

A raffle is also being held. The winner receives a 2015 Tracker Pro 170 Boat. Second prize is $1,000 and third prize $500.
