West Peoria plans for July Fourth

June means plans are in full swing for the 49th celebration of the West Peoria July Fourth parade and flag raising. The parade starts at 10 a.m. July Fourth and wends its way through West Peoria. This event is well attended by thousands of people visiting our community as well as the many people who live here. Volunteers are needed for a large variety of jobs as well as nominations for this year’s grand marshal. Deadline for nominations is June 21. Call City Hall at 674-1993 or go to the cityofwestpeoria.com website for information.

The parade follows Rohmann to Sterling to Waverly and back to Rohmann and at Sterling to the Franciscan Park on Heading Avenue where the flag raising occurs and announcement will be made about parade winners. It is an ideal time to spotlight West Peoria. Yards should be cleaned, mowed and garbage cans off the sidewalks.
