Work on Raber’s is progressing and very visible on Farmington Road. Owners hope to be open by Thanksgiving. There are two 50-year anniversaries being celebrated within our community this year. The first will be our Fourth of July parade and flag raising. This started as Boy Scouts in Troop 11 marched with their families in a patriotic celebration of our country. Thousands now come to our neighborhoods to view and participate in this oldest July Fourth celebration in central Illinois. City Hall is again looking for someone to be recognized as grand marshal of the parade.

The second anniversary recognition goes to CityLink, Greater Peoria Mass Transit District that turns 50 this May. Celebrations are being planned.
