Illinois American Water is asking customers in the Pekin area to be on alert for a person or persons posing as a water company employee. Illinois American Water has learned that, in the past few days, an individual posing as a water company employee has telephoned a Pekin resident asking questions about water quality and requesting entrance into the resident’s home.
Illinois American Water requires all field service employees to wear both the company designated attire and to have photo identification with them at all times according to Pekin operations superintendent, Anthony Hall. Subcontractors working on the company’s behalf are also required to carry photo identification. In addition, our field service employees drive vehicles marked with the Illinois American Water logo.
“It is important that our customers are aware of this should anyone try to enter their home without proper identification,” said Hall.
If a person posing as an Illinois American Water employee tries to enter your home without proper identification, please contact your local law enforcement agency immediately. If you question the authenticity of someone who claims to be an Illinois American Water employee you can verify that person’s identity by calling 1-800-422-2782.
