Announcing the HFO’s 2010-2011 Season

This Saturday, March 20th, the Heartland Festival Orchestra will begin subscription sales for its second season. Here is an overview of the season (some repertoire specifics, soloists, and nonprofit partners will be announced later):

Concert I: Songs from the Heart August 27, 2010
Back by popular demand, rising star Barbara Padilla returns to grace our concert stage with her beautiful voice and charismatic presence.
Mozart Overture to the Marriage of Figaro
Selected songs from the concert and opera repertoire

Concert II: Bach, Beethoven, and Beyond – October 30, 2010
Enjoy the extraordinary talents of our HFO virtuosi in masterpiece concerto solos. Our program is crowned by Beethoven’s revolutionary first symphony, which announced the arrival of a genius!
J.S. Bach Concerto for 2 Violins in d minor
Soloists: Sarah Gentry and Elizabeth Laverdiere
Lukas Foss Renaissance Concerto for Flute and Orchestra

Beethoven Symphony No. 1

Concert III: New Year’s Greeting – January 8, 2011
Join us for a return visit to Vienna as we toast the New Year with musical champagne… This is a celebration you won’t want to miss!
Featuring the music of Johann Strauss (Jr. & Sr.), their Friends, and their Rivals!

Concert IV: Fauré Requiem – March 19, 2011
Faure Requiem (in its original chamber orchestra version)
Classical music’s loveliest and most consoling requiem.
Featuring: Peoria Area Civic Chorale, Joseph Henry, Director

Concert V: Cello3! – June 4, 2011
Help our soloist celebrate the 300th Birthday of his Gofriller cello! Our season comes to a glorious close as the HFO strings soar in Dvorak’s beautiful Serenade.

Haydn Cello Concerto in C Major
Vivaldi Concerto for Two Cellos
Popper Requiem for Three Cellos

All of these concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Five Points Washington Caterpillar Performing Arts Center in Washington, Illinois. The five-concert subscription is $135 for adults and $35 for students and children.

As of March 20th, those interested in subscribing should:
• complete an order form at this Saturday’s Music Alive! concert at Five Points Washington,
• order online at www.heartlandfestivalorchestra.org, or
• complete an order form at Kidder Music in Peoria.
