Congressman Schock to Speak at Peoria Public Library Lincoln Branch Groundbreaking

Tomorrow, Friday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m. Congressman Aaron Schock, Peoria Public Library Board of Trustees Linda Daley and Aurthur Perkins and Margaret Cousins from the Central Illinois Landmark Foundation will speak at a short groundbreaking ceremony that will mark the beginning of construction and renovation at Peoria Public Library Lincoln Branch at 1312 W. Lincoln, Peoria.

Renovation and expansion of the 99-year-old Carnegie Library will include a 12, 000 square foot addition that will add space for state-of-the-art library services at the popular branch while careful renovation of the Carnegie building and the addition of a “green wall” will highlight and preserve the classic architecture of the Peoria landmark. Guests will be able to view renderings of the new addition and original building inside Lincoln Branch during and after the ceremony. Renderings are also available on the library website at www.peoriapubliclibrary.org. The project, part of the Peoria Public Library $28 million building program, is expected to be completed by late summer 2011.
