Central Illinois Organizations & Businesses Turn 100 Years Old

Peoria Historical Society Hosts Centenarian Dinner

During this economic recession, many organizations and businesses across the nation have been forced to close their doors. Here in Central Illinois however, there are dozens of organizations, not-for profits and corporate and family owned businesses that have managed to withstand the test of time.

“The purpose of the Centenarian program is to recognize the strength and durability of the people of our Central IL region and the enterprising organizations in which they have engaged as members, employers and employees, having contributed to the growth and stature of the region and service to all its citizens,” said PHS Executive Director, Walter Ruppman.

Among the many businesses honored this year: Caterpillar and Illinois Mutual Life Insurance, founded in 1910, and Grace Presbyterian Church founded in 1862.

We encourage Peoria Historical Society members, Centenarian Award recipients and news media to join us in our celebration. The dinner will be held Tuesday August 31, 2010 in the Packard Plaza Ballroom at 211 NE Adams Street in Peoria.

The Cocktail Reception is at 5:30 p.m. including a cash bar. Dinner is served at 6:30 and tickets are 30 dollars. Please call (309) 674-1921 to make a reservation.
