As part of their 2010 “Songs from the Woods” concert series, the Peoria Park District’s Forest Park Nature Center will host a special Sunday night concert by folk-singing legend and songwriter Bill Staines on Sunday, October 3re, at 7:00 p.m.
For over 35 years, Bill Staines has traveled across North America delighting audiences at festivals, folksong societies, colleges, concerts, clubs and coffeehouses. A New England native, Bill became involved with the Boston-Cambridge folk scene in the early 1960s and emceed the Sunday hootenanny at the renowned Cub 47 in Cambridge. Bill quickly became a popular performer in the Boston area. In 1971, a reviewer stated he was “simply Boston’s best performer.” A decade later, in 1980 and 1981, the annual reader’s poll of The Boston Globe again selected him as a favorite performer.
Payment for reserved seating is available at the Nature Center’s Trailhead Nature Store. General admission seating is available at the door.
