Local Author Series:
On Wednesday, February 15th at 6:00 p.m. there will be a book signing with Peoria native, Marty McMorrow. He’ll be signing copies of his second memoir, Raindrop Races. The book is the nearly true story of “PJ” and “Moose” as they come of age in the 1960’s, set right here in Peoria. If you were here for Marty’s first book signing of Phoenix to LA, you know this will be a great event.
Mark your calendar for Thursday, February 23rd, when the Grandview Hotel Poets gather to sign copies of Bluffs and Five Bridges – Poems from Peoria. The fun begins at 6:00 p.m. and will also feature violin music by Marcia Henry Liebenow, who is a Bradley professor and member of the Peoria Symphony (schedule permitting).
Upcoming Events: Remember, we’ll be selling Garrison Keillor books (signed copies while supplies last) at the Peoria Civic Center on Monday, February 13th before and after his performance. Call the Civic Center for tickets.
BE A Part of World Book Night! – How would you like the opportunity to give 20 Free Books to your favorite school, hospital, charity, community center or any group of “reluctant readers”? You will have that opportunity if you sign up as a book giver for World Book Night to be held April 23, 2012. You can enroll and learn more about the event by going to www.worldbooknight.org and registering as a book giver. When you register, you’ll be given a selection of thirty titles. Make your selection of your top three, and indicate why you chose those titles and where you want to distribute the books. The books will be available at the store for pick up by April 16th. Plans are in the works for a pre or post party to celebrate the event. Details to follow. Hurry! The deadline for sign up as a book giver is February 6th.
