This program is designed to introduce children to stringed instruments, the sounds they are capable of, and the joy that comes from listening to classical music. While specifically geared toward grade school students, those younger and older would also enjoy this interactive program, taught by the talented student musicians of the CIYS Honors String Quartet.

The Central Illinois Youth Symphony annually serves 175 talented students from 30 communities in the region. Advanced, intermediate and beginning students are placed in one of three orchestras, including a preparatory strings program and pre-college symphony orchestra.
