Kappa Delta Sorority at Bradley University will host their 12th Annual Pancake Breakfast at the Kappa Delta Sorority House on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Kappa Delta Sorority’s Shamrock philanthropy week to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America) takes place during the week of April 9 – April 14, 2012. The last event will be the 12th annual all-you-can-eat, pancake breakfast, at the Kappa Delta sorority house. The Women of Kappa Delta will be selling tickets at the door for $5.00, which includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, fruit, juice and coffee.

Eighty percent of the proceeds collected will remain in Illinois, benefiting the Prevent Child Abuse branch in Illinois. The remaining 20 percent will go to Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America), the sorority’s national philanthropy, for nationwide public awareness programs. They will join thousands of Kappa Deltas across the country in the fundraiser to benefit local affiliates and chapters of PCA America.

“We love Shamrock week because we are not only able to involve all of Bradley University, but we can involve the community to help educate them on the importance of Preventing Child Abuse. In extending involvement to the community, we are able to raise even more money for this life changing organization” said Michelle Kuby, Vice President of Community Service for Kappa Delta Sorority in Peoria, IL

According to recent PCA America statistics, the number of children abused or neglected in the United States grew by 33 percent to reach a level of 3,244,000 in the last decade. Confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect was estimated at more than one million in 1999. Three children die each day from abuse or neglect in the United States.

Founded in 1897, Kappa Delta Sorority began supporting PCA America in 1981, and began the nationwide Shamrock Event in 1983. More than $6 million has been raised through these events to benefit child abuse prevention efforts across the country.
