The Peoria County Farm Bureau Foundation is offering five (5) $1000, one year scholarships, to students pursuing an agricultural related degree. The 2012- 2013 scholarships will be awarded to students residing in Peoria County that have been accepted or are currently enrolled in a four-year university or two-year junior college. Scholarships are paid directly to the community college or University in the name of the recipient during both the fall and spring school semesters. A student can receive a scholarship from the Peoria County Farm Bureau Foundation only one time.
Approved plans of study include but are not limited to: Ag Communications, Ag Economics, Ag Education, Ag Engineering/Mechanization, Agronomy, Animal Science/Pre-Vet, Dairy Science, Food and Nutrition Science, Forestry, Horticulture, and Plant Science.
Applications are available at Peoria County High Schools thru Ag Instructors and Guidance Counselors, Illinois Central College in East Peoria, and the Peoria County Farm Bureau.
Applications are due to the Farm Bureau on or before March 31, 2012.
Since the Foundations inception in 1982, eighty Peoria County students have received a scholarship. The first scholarship was given in 1984 in the amount of $500. Total scholarship dollars awarded to students is over $65,000.
