State Rep. Jehan Gordon (D-Peoria) is sponsoring House Resolution 849, which declares April 21, 2012 LifeLine Pilots Appreciation Day in Illinois.
“Our community and state is blessed to have many people who give their time and resources to help those in need. LifeLine pilots have cared for thousands of families as loved ones undergo medical treatment and thousands others by helping distribute goods when disasters occur,” Gordon said. “In honor of over 7,000 flights and 30 years of service, April 21, 2012 will be LifeLine Pilots Appreciation Day in Illinois. We thank them for all of the work they do for our community, our state, and our nation.”
LifeLine Pilots is a non-profit organization whose mission is to facilitate free air transportation through volunteer pilots for financially distressed passengers with medical and humanitarian needs. The organization has helped countless people from across the country survive in situations that they may not have been able to, if they had not received LifeLine Pilot’s assistance.
“With the continued creation and expansion of specialized medical treatment and research facilities throughout the U.S., reaching the specific facility a patient needs continues to be both a physical and financial challenge. The future success of our mission depends on the continued recruitment of volunteer pilots and the private funding necessary for operations,” said Michael Peifer, Charman of the Board of Directors at LifeLine Pilots. “This resolution and recognition brings much needed awareness of our services to the patients and their families who need us most.”
The presentation of the resolution will be on April 16, 2012 at 10:00am at Byerly Terminal, located at the General Wayne A Downing Peoria International Airport.
