Author Talks About New Book Set in Peoria at Peoria Public Library

Author Clare O’ Donohue, whose new book Life Without Parole features Avanti’s Restaurant, will be at Peoria Public Library North Branch on Sunday, May 20th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the McKenzie Room for a book talk and signing. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Peoria Public Library.

O’ Donohue grew up in Chicago and graduated from Bradley University, which is why Avanti’s is mentioned in her just released new mystery, Life Without Parole. The author, after spending some time as a television producer for shows such as HGTV Simply Quilts, the History Channel, Food Network and A & E, returned to her desire to write. Her first book was The Lover’s Knot, the first of the Someday Quilts series. Currently she is working on the 5th book of the series.

She also has created Kate Conway, who stars in a edgier mystery series that peeks inside the world of television. Life Without Parole follows Missing Persons and was released on April 24.

About Life Without Parole: After the death of her ex-husband, things are finally returning to normal for Kate Conway-so normal that she’s gotten a little bored. Out of the blue, the television producer is offered a documentary gig about lifers in a state prison. Kate jumps at the chance. The only problem is that she’s also just been asked to produce a reality show about the opening of a new restaurant-one backed by Vera, her dead husband’s mistress. Reluctantly, she agrees to both. But when one of the restaurant’s investors is murdered and Vera is the chief suspect, Kate must ride a treacherous psychological edge, relying on the minds of death row killers to help her solve the case.

The program is free and open to the public. For more information call 497-2143.
