The 1st Annual AIDS “Walk to Remember” is being held in collaboration with the 29th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial on May 20, 2012 at the Peoria Riverfront.
This year, in conjunction with the Candlelight Memorial, FRIENDS is sponsoring the AIDS “Walk to Remember”. A walk to remember those loved ones we have lost to this devastating disease or who fight courageously on a day to day basis dealing with the stigma, isolation, side effects from medications and the difficult regimens to stay healthy.
The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial – one of the world’s first public events against HIV/AIDS – is to honor and support those who have been affected by the AIDS pandemic and to mobilize communities worldwide to engage in dialogue, education and partnerships to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS.
For the Peoria community, this will be the fourteenth Candlelight Memorial hosted by Central Illinois FRIENDS of People with AIDS in collaboration with the Minority AIDS Awareness Council, Peoria City/County Health Department and the Heart of Illinois HIV/AIDS Center.
Join us in recognizing the true heroes, May 20, 2012 at the Peoria Riverfront/Liberty Park Gazebo, 7:00p.m. Early registration is $20 by contacting the FRIENDS office at 309-671-2144 or $25 at the event.
