Edgar says Davis will provide “common sense leadership” in Washington
Former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar today endorsed Rodney Davis, Republican candidate for the 13th Congressional District in the November election.
“Everybody is frustrated with the dysfunction in Washington,” said Governor Edgar. “Rodney Davis will bring common sense leadership that we need in Congress. Times are tough, and we need a Congressman with a plan to rein in spending, tackle our debt problem, and help our business owners create jobs,” said Edgar. “Rodney Davis will be that Congressman, and I’m proud to give him my enthusiastic support.”
“I’m honored to have Governor Edgar’s support,” said Davis. “Governor Edgar took office and led our state during very difficult times. I hope to take some of the lessons he taught in Springfield to Congress.”
Since becoming Republican nominee for the 13th District on May 19, Rodney Davis has worked aggressively to show residents from all corners of the district that he will be an open, accessible, and connected Congressman. He graduated from Taylorville High School, Millikin University, and lives in Taylorville with his wife, Shannon, and three children.
The new 13th district stretches from Champaign-Urbana to the east, Bloomington-Normal to the north, Edwardsville in the Metro East area to the south and the Mississippi River to the West. The 13th also includes portions of Decatur and Macon County as well as Springfield and Sangamon County.
