Flag Day Ceremony at Constitution Gardens

You are cordially invited to witness and participate in the Flag Day ceremony being held at Constitution Gardens at the foot of Morton Street on Thursday, June 14, 2012 beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Councilman Eric Turner will host. Mayor Ardis will read a City Proclamation regarding Flag Day. The Sherriff’s Honor Guard will present the colors. Deb Conklin will give a drum roll as each of the original 13 flags of the colonies are raised as a brief description is given for each. Former Mayor Jim Maloof and Lee Wenger will lead the assembly in singing the National Anthem. Rob Preston will play the Bagpipes as worn flags are retired by members of the American Legion Post 2.

At 6:00 p.m. the Pledge of Allegiance will be repeated by the guests as it will be repeated all across America at this same hour.

American Legion Post 2 will give a demonstration of properly folding the flag and the Sons of The American Revolution, dressed in period costume, will fire a black powder musket salute to Old Glory.
