Chocolate is SO Delicious Tasting at Peoria Public Library
Chocolate lovers are invited to Peoria Public Library Lakeview Branch at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14 to explore the many facets of chocolate as part of Reading is SO Delicious.
The tasting party for this heavenly food will teach the difference between milk and dark chocolate and what white chocolate really. Chocolate comes from a bean, but how does it get from there to that box of chocolates? Taste a variety of chocolates and learn about this treat. Registration requested at 309- 497-2120 so that there will be enough samples, but is not required. All ages welcome for this free program.
Tube Band to Play the Plastic at Peoria Public Library!
Experience a new type of music when the Lewistown High School Tube Band plays a free PVC Pipe concert for all ages at Peoria Public Library North Branch on Sunday, July 15 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Watch as this group of talented musicians creates insane melodic tones from PVC and sewage pipe beaten with sticks and spatulas. It’s music like you’ve never imagined.

Going Batty at the Library! Incredible Live Bats and Batman Movie Fest!
Peoria Public Library North Branch will show a series of free Batman movies the week of July 16 through July 20 before the the next big summer movie thriller, Dark Knight Rises hits the theater July 20 and then offer a program featuring live bats on July 23.
Relive the thrill of Batman with the Peoria Public Library North Branch big screen and digital sound system. The fun begins on Monday, July 16 at 4:00 p.m. with Batman. Come back on Wednesday, July 20 at 4:00 p.m. for Batman Returns and on Friday, July 20 catch Batman Forever at 4:00 p.m. before heading out to the theater. On Saturday, July 21 at 1:00 p.m. see a special showing of Batman, Gotham Knight which is a special bonus showing of tales of The Dark Knight by noted anime talents.
To top off the Batman experience, meet some live bats with Egyptian Fruit Bat educators Sharon and Dan Peterson on Wednesday, July 23 at 11:00 a.m. at North Branch. Watch a film about bats and then learn about the bats by viewing them up close. Cameras are welcome for this special event. The Petersons, trained by Bat Conservation International, will reveal the many benefits of this misunderstood and feared creature as well as how to conserve the species.
