The City of Peoria has many cooling stations and water available for citizens to get relief from the heat. Citizens may go to the Human Service Center located at 2301 NE Adams Street, the Salvation Army located at 414 N. Jefferson Street, any local fire station, or the Civic Center which has opened its Verizon Café and will have water stations, tables and chairs.
In addition, there will be water arches set up at the Civic Center and Taft Homes that will be available all weekend. An additional water arch will be set up on Friday, June 29th, at Harrison School that will extend throughout the weekend as well.
The Logan Recreation Center, located at 1414 S. Livingston Street, has a water playground that is open to the public from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
If any citizens are in need of getting to a cooling center, they may contact the non-emergency fire dispatch at (309) 673-4521 to get a ride to the nearest cooling center.
