The Heartland Partnership CEO/President Jim McConoughey has resigned effective July 25, 2012. Jim has also resigned as President and/or Director of The Heartland Partnership’s related organizations: The Economic Development Council for Central Illinois, The Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce and the Heartland Commerce & Economic Development Foundation. The Heartland Partnership Board of Directors issues the following statement:
Jim McConoughey has provided valuable leadership to The Heartland Partnership and our region for the past ten years. He has made significant contributions to the growth and diversification of our region’s economy and played an important role in numerous developments including Peoria NEXT, the Cancer Research Center at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, and the regional Economic Scorecard. Jim’s passion and talent for economic development has helped the Peoria area gain high marks in numerous measures of the economic health and vibrancy of our area.
The decision by the community to pursue a new direction in economic development creates a need for new thinking and leadership. Jim has decided that both The Heartland Partnership and he would benefit from his decision to pursue other opportunities. The Heartland Partnership sincerely appreciates Jim’s contributions to the community over the past decade and wishes him success in his new endeavors.
The Heartland Partnership serves hundreds of businesses, not-for-profit organizations and public entities in the Peoria Region through its family of companies. A search for a new CEO/President of The Heartland Partnership and its related organizations will begin immediately.
