A Walk in the Park Can Help the Homeless

The Annual Eureka “Race with your Heart” is September 22, 2012 at Lake Eureka Park. It is a 4-mile run or a 2-mile walk. The annual race is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the nonprofit organization Heartline/Heart House.

All proceeds aid in the continuation of Heartline’s services to help meet basic needs of those in the community as well as Heart House providing shelter for those who are homeless and a safe haven for victims of domestic violence. Heart House serves Woodford County and Washington Residents. The shelter receives no government funding and relies on individual and organizational donations, and fundraisers such as this.

Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. and the race begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Eureka Lake Pavilion. Entry fees for the race and walk are $20 per person if postmarked by September 1, $25 per person if postmarked after September 1 or on the day of the race.

Participants receive a uniquely designed tee-shirt, free massages and can sign up for awesome door prizes. A 3D medallion will be awarded to the top five finishers in each running division and a $50 gift certificate and award to overall male and female winners. The race is part of the Lake Run Club and the Illinois Valley Strider Grand Prix Circuit.

Bring the whole family for the free home baked cookies, and an awesome post race party that adds up to a fun family atmosphere and a free lunch.
