On Thursday, September 27, the public will have the opportunity to weigh in on top transportation priorities in the region during the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) District 4 Open House.
IDOT is seeking public input for the development of its upcoming Multi-modal Transportation Improvement Program for Fiscal Years 2014-2019. The public meeting scheduled for the Peoria area will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the District 4 Headquarters, located at 401 Main St. in Peoria, IL.
Eastern Bypass Coalition President Mike Hinrichsen is encouraging the public to communicate to IDOT the need and desire of our community the importance of the Eastern Bypass project to the Greater Peoria Region.
“This roadway has the potential to facilitate the movement of people and freight to, from and around the region and strengthening the region’s economic development and growth opportunities and transportation efficiencies,” Hinrichsen said. “This public participation is vital to keep the project moving.”
Specific request should include provisions for funding Phase 2 Eastern Bypass Study,
The corridor study for next nine to 12 months is funded, but not the alignment study after it. No parts of the construction plans of construction itself are funded either.
Needed is roughly $10 million for the next four-year phase.
IDOT will be taking verbal and written comments at the September 27th meeting. Additionally, they will be receiving written input from now until a few weeks following the public hearing to the following:
Mr. Joseph E. Crowe, P.E.
