PEORIA, IL – At her 2nd Annual Veterans Appreciation Breakfast, Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth (D-Peoria) will be joined by local elected officials, T.V. personalities, and others to serve breakfast to local veterans. This FREE breakfast is on December 8, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, located at 1505 East Lake Ave. in Peoria Heights.
“This breakfast is a small token of appreciation for the men and women who bravely served our country,” said Gordon-Booth. “As we remember our loved ones during this holiday season, I wanted to say a special thank you to members of our military who have always protected us.”
Veterans and their family members, as well as individuals currently enlisted in the military, will be able to come to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Peoria Heights for a free pancake breakfast that will include pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. Gordon will be joined by several local dignitaries in helping serve the food, including: Director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs Erica Borggren; Peoria County Clerk Steve Sonnemaker; Peoria County Recorder of Deeds Nancy Horton; Peoria County State’s Attorney Jerry Brady; Peoria County Board Members Mary Ardapple, Rachael Parker, Mike Phelan, Carole Trumpe, and Sharon Williams; Limestone Township Supervisor Huston “Skip” Light; West Peoria Township Collector Imelda Kelch; Bellevue Village Trustee Ralph Wilson; Peoria Heights Trustees Jeffrey Goett and Andrea Pendleton; television anchors Joe Bennett, Chuck Collins, Lee Hall and Marshana Hester; Labor Paper Editor Sharon Williams; Judge John Vespa; Peoria Heights Police Chiefe Duston Sutotn; City of Peoria Fire Chief Kent Tomblin; Director at the Center for the Prevention of Abuse Martha Herm; Illinois Central College Director of Diversity Dr. Rita Ali; NCAAP President Donald Jackson; Peoria Chief Administrators Ralph Converse and Terry Capps; and Manual Basketball Coach Derrick Booth.
