Winter Break Free Fun for Kids at Peoria Public Library

With kids out of school and restless, families are invited to enjoy these fun free activities at Peoria Public Library!

December 6 – January 6
Teen Winter Reading – All locations
Teens in grades 6 through 12 can read a book and submit a review for a chance to win a prize in our inaugural winter reading program. Enter up to 4 times by reading 4 different books. The grand prize drawing will take place on January 10th and winners will be notified.

Winter Holiday Activity Booklet – Main Library
Looking for something fun to do during your Winter Break? Pick up a Winter Holiday Activity Booklet at the 2nd Floor Information Desk at the Main Library. Each booklet will have coloring sheets, craft ideas, recipes, activities sheets, bookmarks and other fun ideas for all the major winter holidays, including Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa and the Winter Solstice. There’s something for all kids ages 3 to 12. So don’t miss out on the fun. Remember to pick yours up!

Make It! Take It! at Main – Main Library
Are the winter blues getting you down? Need something exciting to do over winter break? Every Wednesday in December, kids in grades K through 6 can drop in to make the day’s craft. While supplies last.

Busy Bees Storytime – North Branch
Join us for an all-ages storytime in the North Branch Beehive featuring stories and songs.

New Year’s Movie – McClure Branch
Come celebrate the New Year’s holiday by watching the movie Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year and enjoy some snacks. All ages welcome.

Winter Blues Movie Showing – Lakeview Branch
Need something to do now that the holidays are over? Join us for a showing of Wall-e. A small snack will be provided. All ages welcome.

Fun Time Storytime – McClure Branch
Fun stories and crafts. Ages 3 to 6. While supplies last.

Men in Black Movie Marathon – Main Library Auditorium
Calling all MIB fans! Can you believe the original MIB was released 15 years ago? Join us as we relive the crazy antics of Agent K and Agent J and the aliens they encounter.

Tadpoles Storytime – North Branch
If you’re looking for a storytime that is just right for your 2 or 3 year-old, visit the library for stories, songs, activities and easy crafts that are a perfect fit for little ones who are too big for the baby storytime but not quite ready for the preschool storytime. Children ages 2 to 3 years and their caregivers are welcome.

Science Sleuths – North Branch
Join us each month to learn how the library can help you explore the mysteries of the universe. Experiments, outdoor exploration and fun included! Keep in mind that science can sometimes be messy, so don’t wear your favorite sweater! Children 3rd-5th grade.

Madagascar Movie Marathon – Lincoln Branch
Join us for a marathon of Madagascar (January 3), Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa (January 4), and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted (January 5). All ages welcome.

Discovering Great Artists – Lakeview Branch
Join us for hands-on activities to learn the artistic styles of great artists. This month we will focus on Renaissance art and create our own Michelangelo fresco-inspired project. Ages 7 to 12.
