ART EXHIBITS

  • “New Dimensions” by Alan Atkins is at the Follow Your Arts Gallery at ArtsPartners.
  • March 6 is the month’s “First Friday,” when visits are encouraged throughout metro Peoria.
  • Also March 6, the Art Bodega in Washington is holding a “Naughty Pottery Paint Party” at 6:30 p.m.
  • There’s a Fourth Friday show at Muse Gallery in Morton on March 27.

SPECIAL EVENTS

  • Dr. Ron McCurdy’s “Langston Hughes Project” will present a multimedia performance of live jazz, spoken-word and visuals based on Hughes’ colorful epic creation from 1960: “Ask Your Mame: 12 Moods for Jazz.” It will be at the Illinois Central College Performing Arts Center on March 5.
  • Whisper & Shout: Open Mic for Poetry will be at the Contemporary Art Center on March 5 and 19.
  • Events with Women’s History Month themes are set for the Peoria Public Library: an interactive Kahoot! activity at 2:30 p.m. at the Lakeview Branch, and an “Adult Paint Night” starting at 6:15 p.m. at the Lincoln Branch.
  • The Peoria Public Library also is conducting “Poetry Night” at the Lincoln Branch on March 16.
  • Get Lit. Open Mic Night will be at Lit. On Fire Books on March 18.

THEATRE

  • Peoria Players Theatre presents “Bright Star,” directed by Madison Motyl, March 6-8 and 12-15.
  • The “Mrs. Doubtfire: The Musical” tour stops at the Civic Center Theatre, March 10-11.
  • Corn Stock Theatre will stage “Night, Mother” March 20-22 and 27-29.

DANCE

  • Peoria’s Spandan School of Kathak presents “Sangan: A Confluence of Indian Classical Dance and Rhythm” at ICC Performing Arts Center on March 8.
  • Salsa at the Contemporary Art Center is happening March 20.

Wes Barker will be at Jukebox on March 20.

  • Katt Williams brings his “Golden Age Tour” to the Civic Center Arena on March 7.
  • Penn & Teller’s Wes Barker brings a night of magic and comedy to the Jukebox Comedy Club on March 20.

  • “Music in the McKenzie” is presenting the Nathan Taylor Band on March 8 at the Peoria Public Library’s North Branch.
  • Bradley University’s Dingeldine Music Center will host a Symphonic Band/Winds concert March 11.
  • The Joe Stamm Band is playing at Crusen’s on Farmington Road on March 14.
  • The Central Illinois Jazz Society is featuring John Miller & the Romaniacs on March 15 at Trailside Event center.
  • The Prairie Wind Ensemble performs on March 19 at Five Points Washington.
  • The Heartland Festival Orchestra performs “French Impressions” March 21 at Five Points Washington.
  • Pippi and Daniel are “Live at the Five Spot” performing their eclectic blend of R&B, jazz and gospel March 27 at the Contemporary Art Center.
  • The Peoria Symphony Orchestra presents “A Little Night Music” March 27 at Grace Presbyterian Church.

CLASSES & LECTURES

  • Bradley’s Visual Voices lecture series will feature Mark Rospenda at 5 p.m. March 12 in Global Communications Center 126.
  • The Peoria Art Guild is hosting an Intro to Letterpress Print course March 5, and a Color Theory Workshop on March 19.
  • Fine Art Society of Peoria is hosting “Beyond Heights: Skyscrapers and the Human Experience” at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on March 12.
