ART EXHIBITS

  • Experience local galleries and art studios on First Friday, April 3.
  • Visit the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, where Ana V. Fleming & Liz Johnson show through April 4, and artists’ “Art on the Defense” that continues through April 11.
  • “Bring it on Home” featuring Michael Meares is at the Artful Journey Gallery on University, with an artist reception April 18.
  • Fourth Friday is at Muse Gallery in Morton, which is April 24.

  • Whisper & Shout: Open Mic for Poetry is at the Contemporary Art Center on April 2 and 16.
  • The Peoria Public Library Main branch is hosting the Business of Art: DONE DAY — a day-long conference to help artists complete business tasks — will be April 11, presented by ArtsPartners of Central Illinois.

CLASSES & LECTURES

  • Fine Art Society of Peoria is hosting “Pattern and Paradox: The Quilts of Amish Women” at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on April 9.
  • Peoria Art Guild is hosting a Gouache Painting class on April 14, and a Beginner Watercolor class on April 16.

THEATRE

  • Bradley University presents “Everybody” April 8-12 at Hartmann Center.
  • Corn Stock Theatre’s “Corn Stock for Kids” is staging “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” April 16-19.
  • Peoria Players Theatre presents “42nd Street” April 24 through May 3.
  • Illinois Central College presents “Theatre and Dance Showcase” April 29.

COMEDY

  • The Jukebox Comedy Club is presenting Brad Wenzel two nights April 3-4 and the inimitable Heywood Banks on April 10.
  • Humorist and author David Sedaris will entertain at the Civic Center Theater on April 26.

DANCE

  • World Ballet Company presents “Cinderella” April 23 in the Civic Center Theater.

MUSIC

  • Peoria Pops Orchestra performs “Around the World in 80 Minutes” April 4 at the Illinois Central College Performing Arts Center.
  • Tambora will be “Live at the Five Spot” on April 10 at the Contemporary Art Center.
  • LiV Warfield and the Peoria Symphony Orchestra perform “LiV’n It Up with LiV Warfield” April 17 at the Civic Center Theater.
  • The “Dos Amigos Tour,” featuring Dwight Yoakam and ZZ Top, will stop at the Civic Center Arena on April 24.
