VISUAL ART
- Visit area galleries and art studios on “First Friday” this Jan. 2.
- Through January, Daniel Botkin is exhibiting dozens of pieces from two bodies of his work at the Time Gallery on the second and third floors of Clock Tower Place in East Peoria.
- On Jan. 10, the Artful Journey gallery on North University launches “Loose Change,” a month-long fundraiser for the non-profit that lets visitors vote for their favorite piece of art — with the money in their pockets. The benefit ends Jan. 28.

- Comedian and New York Times best-selling author Charlie Berens’ “Lost & Found Tour” will stop at the Peoria Civic Center’s Prairie Home Alliance Theater on Jan. 25.
THEATRE
- “A Toast to Q: Celebrating the Music of Quincy Jones” Jan. 4 at Peoria Players Theatre.
- “Hadestown” is Jan. 6-7 at Peoria Civic Center.
- “The 39 Steps,” a stage comedy based on Alfred Hitchcock’s movie and John Buchan’s novel, is set for Corn Stock Lab Theatre this Jan. 16-18 and 23-25. Illinois Central College is presenting “My (Unauthorized) Hallmark Movie Musical” Jan. 22 at the Performing Arts Center in East Peoria.
- Peoria Players Theatre presents “Young Frankenstein” from Jan. 30-Feb. 8.
DANCE
- Salsa at the Contemporary Art Center is happening Jan. 16.
MUSIC
- Elvis impersonator Rick Dunham performs Jan. 9 at the Contemporary Art Center for “Live at the Five Spot”.
- The Heritage Ensemble is presenting a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Choral Celebration on Jan. 18 at the Illinois Central College Performing Arts Center.
- The Central Illinois Jazz Society is presenting the Larry Gray Accordion/Guitar Trio on Jan. 18 at Trailside Event Center.
- Grammy Award-winning country musician Jason Aldean hits Peoria Civic Center on Jan. 22.
- State of Mind will be “Live at the Five Spot” Jan. 23 at the Contemporary Art Center.
