PeoriaCounty200Plus wants your input on future of Peoria

What do you see for the future of Peoria County? There has been a remarkable history to celebrate during this bicentennial year. What about the next 200 years?

Have any ideas? The county wants to know.

PeoriaCounty200Plus.com is at the government’s website to solicit public input on the future of unincorporated land use and put together a Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The initiative, which started in October and runs through the end of the year, looks to address the changes in demographics, the economy, infrastructure and environment. “Public input — genuine input — on the future of Peoria County,” said Peoria County Planning & Zoning Director Andrew Braun. “What makes you excited? What concerns are there about the future?”

Braun says this initial phase of electronically gathering information on where to place businesses and how to balance neighborhoods with greenspace will move to “getting out in front of folks” at presentations across the county at neighborhood association meetings, schools, nursing homes and the like.

Share information on the future of housing and infrastructure. Share opportunities with residents, businesses and stakeholders. Design the roadmap for the future of zoning, development and budgeting. “We’re getting all kinds of great feedback as we move to the next 15-20 years,” Braun said. “Groups start better conversations. We have been soliciting townships to talk to their groups and have those groups talk to others.

“People think of completely different things. Make a plan. Introduce a plan.”
