Members of the Peoria City Council met on Nov. 18 and heard Assistant Community Development Director Leah Allison discuss a special use for a halfway house to be located at 1924 SW Adams.
It would house 10-12 parolees from the Illinois Department of Corrections for a 16-week rehabilitation program. Members of the group God Restoring Order (GRO) spoke to the project about the services to help participants rebuild lives. GRO has experience with rehabilitation in the Chicago area. After much discussion, the item was deferred to Dec. 9.
Also, Community Development Director Joe Dulin discussed recent changes in federal funding priorities from permanent supportive housing to transitional housing. Council decided more data is needed.
