During the City Council meeting on Sept. 9, City Manager Patrick Urich discussed first steps to accept and approve a letter of intent from Hengst Foundation for donation of $11 million for a public amphitheater on the riverfront.
Corporation Counsel Patrick Hayes discussed confidentiality provisions for private entities.
The proposal is for an outdoor venue with seating for 5,000 people with removable seating, as well as lawn seating. The Hengst Foundation objective is to promote the arts and enhance quality of life, consistent with goals of city.
One dollar from each ticket sale will go to a Hengst Foun-dation charity for scholarships for local students. Councilors voted unanimously to accept the letter of intent.
Kathy McNeil, representing Friends of Riverfront Park, spoke regarding concerns with preserving green space on the Riverfront.
