Area wind-farm developer donates to Princeville School District STEM lab

Goldrush Apple Wind has established a community grant program dedicated to funding educational initiatives in its project area of Stark, Peoria and Marshall counties, the company announced Aug. 15.

The program includes an award of $20,260 to Princeville School District 326 to fund the purchase of 30 new Dell Optiplex desktop computers for the high school’s STEM (Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics) lab, according to spokeswoman Angie Hummels.

Based in Princeville, Goldrush Apple Wind is developing wind farms in northern Peoria County and southern Stark County. It’s part of Apex Clean Energy, a Virginia-based company whose majority owner is Ares Management.

“We’re proud to partner with Princeville Schools,” said Apex Development Director Shelley Schwab. “This investment is about more than just technology — it’s about preparing students with the skills and confidence they need to thrive in the job market. We’re excited to empower the next generation.”
