After much discussion, the Peoria City Council voted 9-2 at its June 24 meeting to approve $1,250,000 for sale and purchase of Exposition Gardens on Northmoor Road, as well as release of a $457,770 city lien. Due diligence expenses will be included.
Some concerns were raised regarding lack of appraisal of the property. Land will be added to local land bank and could be developed into as many as 150 new homes on 70 acres. This is expected to increase city, county and school tax revenues. Councilors Denis Cyr and Alex Carmona voted nay.
On July 8 councilors met with quorum present; Councilors Denise Jackson and Kiran Velpula were absent. Minutes from the June 17 Special City Council Proceedings and the June 24 City Council Proceedings were approved.
