Over 1,000 volunteers participated in the 12th Annual Great American Cleanup, a city-wide spring litter cleanup sponsored and organized by Keep Peoria Beautiful.
Peoria Disposal Company provided dumpsters to many neighborhood Associations to use for garbage/litter and landscape waste.

A record amount trash was collected: 178,000 pounds of garbage, litter and landscape waste as well as 350 tires collected. Firestone Tire picked up all the discarded tires, which were later recycled.

Partners that helped to make this a successful event included: Advanced Medical Transport, Altorfer Rents, CILCO, Brewers Distributing, Busey Bank, Caterpillar, CGN, City of Peoria, Diamond Vogel Paints, Firestone Tire, First Bank, Home Depot, IL-American Water, Kroger, Lowe’s, Jim Maloof, National City Bank, PDC, Pepsi, Schnuck’s, Sherwin Williams, South Side Bank and Wal-Mart.
