Letter to the Editor | Pandemic Safety Measure: Request Ballot to Vote by Mail

To help voters prepare for the upcoming General Election, the League of Women Voters of Greater Peoria is encouraging all registered voters to request a vote by mail ballot for the Nov. 3 election.

We fully agree with the words of our state League president, Allyson Haut, “We want all registered voters to take advantage of this easy, smart and safe way to cast a ballot. Vote by Mail is in use in many states, it is secure and voter fraud is extremely rare. We hope to empower all to vote safely.”

Go to League of Women Voters of Illinois online tool, illinoisvoterguide.org, to find your appropriate local election authority where you can request a vote by mail ballot electronically, in most cases, or you can download an application and return it to the election authority by USPS mail. Or, go to:

Peoria County/ City: https://www.peoriaelections.org/205/Vote-by-Mail-Online-Request
Tazewell County: https://il-tazewell.ballotrequest.net/
Woodford County: https://www.woodford-county.org/FormCenter/County-Forms-4/Vote-by-Mail-Online-Ballot-Application-44

If you need to register to vote or change your address, the illinoisvoterguide.org can direct you to the online voter registration site. After registering, you can request a vote by mail ballot!

Once requested, ballots will be sent out starting Sept. 24, so expect yours in the mail at the end of September or beginning of October.

A voter should not have to choose between one’s health and casting a ballot. Your vote is your voice. Let your voice be heard.
