Chicago Tribune reporter Ray Long — whose new book, The House That Madigan Built: The Record Run of Illinois’ Velvet Hammer, was excerpted in last month’s Community Word — is set to appear at Bradley University on Monday, April 18 as a program by OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute).

The once-powerful Democratic power-broker Michael Madigan was indicted for racketeering on March 2.

Long, a former Peoria newspaperman who’s covered Illinois government for decades, is scheduled to discuss his new book from 6-7 p.m., and his remarks will be preceded by a book signing starting at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets to attend the presentation by the two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist are $10 per person and include refreshments. To register, phone (309) 677-3900.
