The consolidated elections for the City of West Peoria
fall on April 4, 2023. Names are needed on the ballots for the following positions: Mayor, Clerk, Treasurer, for four years. Detailed voting information may be picked up from Clerk Mary Barnes in City Hall. Completed petitions must be returned by December 19 to City Hall to complete the election process. Clerk Barnes is available from 11 a.m.-

Unity Point shared information concerning the planned changes to the youth health facility on Heading Ave. that is replacing Heddington Oaks Senior facility. Plans at this time are for 44 beds and for outpatients with an anticipated finish of 10 months. This is with approved zoning changes by the Zoning Board. Check the West Peoria information on the internet for more detailed info. Next ZBA/Planning meeting is Nov. 22 in City Hall.

Friends of Rocky Glen are offering free Horseshoe Bottoms hikes and workdays beginning at 9 a.m. the Saturdays of Nov. 5
and Dec. 3. Meet at the far west end. St. Mary’s on Sterling Ave. Liability waivers are required and hikes last about 90 minutes. Workdays last 2-3 hours. The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District is hosting the 35th Stuff-a-Bus food drive with donated non-perishable food/cash donated with the goal of collecting
13 tons of food donated to fill
the vintage bus for the Friendship House of Christian Service.
Since January of this year, 450 meals have been donated by Friendship House. This helps demonstrate the caring of our citizens. Donations may be left at West Peoria City Hall, example of the generosity and caring of Peoria.
Another tradition each year are the themed Historical Calendars. The 2023 calendars are featuring Stores with a brief history of each. Calendars may be purchased for $5 each at either the transit center or administration building. More information is available at the Transit Center, Admin. Building or online at its website.
