ART EXHIBITS
- Again, most local galleries have receptions and displays for “First Friday” — this month on Saturday, Feb. 1.
COMEDY
- April Macie — familiar from Netflix’ “Tiffany Haddish: They Ready,” Showtime’s, “Snoop Dogg’s Bad Girls of Comedy,” and NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” — will conclude her two-night stand at Jukebox Comedy Club with two shows this Feb. 1.
MUSIC
- Emmy Award-winning vocalist Shaun Johnson and the Shaun Johnson Trio will perform at ICC’s Performing Arts Center on Feb. 6.
- Judy Page performs Feb. 14 at the Contemporary Art Center for “Live at the Five Spot.” Which will also feature State of Mind on Feb. 28.
- The Peoria Symphony Orchestra presents “Romance: Crazy for You,” featuring pianist Neil Krzeski and five George Gershwin pieces, on Valentine’s Day Feb. 14 at Peoria Civic Center Theater.
- Captain Quirk will headlined “Cabin Fever” at Five Points Washington on Feb. 22.
- Feb. 25 is this year’s Jazz festival at Bradley University. Performing throughout the day at BU’s Michel Student Center will be 15 high school jazz bands, guest artist Dave Pietro, and clinicians Nikki Malley, Chip McNeill and Robert Sears. That night will be a concert featuring the Bradley Groove Project and Jazz Ensemble with Dave Pietro.
SPECIAL EVENTS
- The Contemporary Art Center’s open mic night for poetry, “Whisper and Shout,” is set for Feb. 6 and 20.
- Wildlife Prairie Park is hosting a murder-mystery night, “Mayhem at the Juice Joint,” this Feb. 1.
- “Love Struck: A Murdery Mystery Dinner” takes place at Five Points Washington on Feb. 14.
THEATER
- “Sweeney Todd” runs through Feb. 9 at Peoria Players Theatre.
- Sam Shepard’s “True West” will be staged Feb. 7-9 and Feb. 14-16 at Corn Stock Theatre’s winter playhouse, directed by Blake Stubbs.
- Brandon Thomas’s classic farce “Charley’s Aunt” will be performed by ICC Theatre on Feb. 26-27 at ICC’s Performing Arts Center.
- Bradley’s “Dare Project 2025” — produced by theatre arts student organization the Ministry of Experimental Theatre (MET) — is presenting new short plays, each written and directed by students “on a dare.” They’ll be staged Feb. 12-16 in the O’Sullivan Studio Theatre.
