The Watch: Election audit results released

During the audit performed by the Peoria County Election Commission of the Nov. 5 election, it was found that 72 ballots cast on election day had not been posted.

Those missed ballots would not have changed the outcome of the election. It was determined the scanner was not working properly due to operator error. Changes will be made in the future so that this will not happen again.

In other news, the Peoria County Board voted 12-5 to lease the remainder of the Election Commission office building to create more space for anticipated growth in vote by mail and its related operations.
